Dr. MANAS K. MAJUMDAR- Research Scientist

Dr. Manas K Majumdar is having over 25 years of experience in both academia and global bio-pharmaceutical industry, fifteen of which was spent at majors like GlaxoSmithKline and Pfizer. Robust scientific background exemplified by publication in peer-reviewed journals. Areas of research experience include Stem cell biology, musculoskeletal biology, Biomarker discovery, Inflammation, Biologicals and small molecule.

Dr. Amartya Mishra - Research Scientist

Dr. Amartya Mishra completed his master degree in Biochemistry from University of Calcutta and obtained his doctoral degree from CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Kolkata, India. Dr. Mishra has experience in the field of molecular parasitology for about 10 years from various international school of biomedical research including Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel and State University of New York at Buffalo, USA. At I3T, his research interest would focus on the development of therapeutics targeted against the distinct metabolic pathways for tropical infectious pathogens.

Dr. Suman Dutta - Research Scientist

In his initial years, Dr. Suman Dutta has worked on inflammation-induced apoptosis and has received a Ph.D. degree in 2011. Dr. Dutta then moved to South Korea for his first postdoctoral study at Hallym University. After that, he moved into the field of extracellular vesicle biology and in Mahidol University, Thailand, his work was to search for CCA biomarkers in exosomes for pre-clinical diagnosis and to elucidate the role of exosomal cargo in cholangiocarcinoma pathogenesis. At the Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (CSIR-IICB), his work involved the identification of exosomal signature cargos for metal-induced toxicity and carcinogenicity in humans. In early 2016, Dr. Dutta joined the University of California Los Angeles, where the main focus of his work was to analyze the brain-derived blood exosomes in different neurodegenerative diseases. He also worked in generating signature spectra of single exosomes from different sources using surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) and developed a highly sensitive phospho-α-Synuclein (pS129) assay using a small spot U-plex electrochemiluminescence (ECELISA) platform. Dr. Dutta’s research is dedicated to understanding disease pathologies and develop new therapeutic and diagnostic tools for different neurodegenerative diseases.

Dr. Nirmalya Dey – Research Scientist

Dr. Dey’s work will focus on investigation of basic mechanisms behind the effects of hyperglycemia using cell culture models. With his post-doctoral research experience from the UTHSCSA, Texas on the signal transduction pathway in diabetic renal injury, Dr. Dey is optimistic that his work will contribute in identification and discovery of novel mediators and development of counter measures against diabetes – the silent killer.

Dr. Avisek Mondal – Research Scientist

Dr. Avisek Mondal completed his B.Sc. from the University of Calcutta and M.Sc. from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IITKGP). He was awarded Ph.D. from Bose Institute under Calcutta University. During his Postdoctoral Research at National Institute of Health (NIH), his work was focused on elucidating molecular mechanisms of neurodegenerative lysosomal storage disorders (LSDs). His current research plan is focused on advancing translational science on neurodegenerative diseases in humans that manifest either “sporadic” or “inherited”. His main objective is to develop novel and rational therapeutic drugs that ameliorate the progression of the disease.

Dr. Nazmun Lyle – Research Scientist

Dr. Nazmun Lyle has been working for 16 years in the area of Neurobiology. She has earned a Ph.D. from the Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research (I. P. G. M. E. & R.), Kolkata. She has more than eight years of post-doctoral experiences. Her research interest is in the area of Neurophysiology especially to understand the molecular mechanisms / pathways involved in the stress induced pathophysiology. She has further explored the molecular mechanism of stress induced neuropathology with a view to search natural products as promising drug candidates using animal experimental models. She has experience in the fields of ageing and stress-induced initiation and progression of neurodegeneration using mammalian cell systems and animal models to understand the effective diagnostics and therapeutic strategies. She is also working in the field of Human Molecular Genetics and Epidemiology.

Dr. Amlanjyoti Dhar – Research Scientist

Dr. Dhar has an experience in the field of Biochemical sciences for about 18 years. An alumnus of the prestigious Bose Institute and Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (IICB), he worked extensively on developing drugs against Melanoma. He joined as a Research Fellow probing into gene regulation for National Cancer Institute, at Bethesda, MD, USA for a period of 08 years. At I3T, his research interest would focus on vaccine development for several diseases that posed a major threat against public health.

Ms. Arita Acharjee

Ms. Arita Acharjee – Research Scientist

Ms. Acharjee is trained in the research fields of molecular biology, structural biology & cryo-EM analysis along with exposure in epidemiological studies and research in cancer screening projects. She has been instrumental in identifying rapid detection techniques for malarial strains and their modes of recovery. Her expertise lies in both wet and dry lab techniques as well as in silico platforms for Biostatistics, MD simulations, Image analysis and other bioinformatics tools. Her interest and focus currently is on infectious disease and its nodal treatment studies along with their epidemiological effects to alleviate present scenarios in the public health domain.
Ms. Binita Bhattacharya

Ms. Binita Bhattacharyya – Research Scientist

Ms. Binita Bhattacharya is an M. Tech in Biotechnology having ample experience in working in different biotechnology fields of Microbiology, Molecular biology and Immunology department. She has been working as a Junior Research Fellow in a sequencing company in Hyderabad performing the isolation of DNA & RNA from different tissue types (plant, animal, human, microbial, environmental etc.) and genome library preparation for the next generation sequencing in Illumina and PACBIO platform. She also worked in the department of hybridoma technology and development of monoclonal antibodies including the techniques ELISA, Subcloning, cell counting and fusion. She worked at Hindustan Unilever, Kolkata in the department of microbiological testing and QC.

Sadhvi – Research Fellow

Sadhvi is a M. Tech in Food Technology with her desires encompassing in academia and research pertaining to public health. Her experiences with FSSAI in her internship tenure and training in Food Engineering domains at CSIR-CFTRI, her interests to create interventions in the community regarding nutritional awareness and necessary implementations drives her passion to be a part of the Maternal and Child Health programmes and associated public healthcare at I3T- to develop and to reach objectives aligned with Government’s mandates of Sustainable Development Goals.
