{"id":10668,"date":"2021-08-21T05:34:51","date_gmt":"2021-08-21T05:34:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/i3tk.org\/demo2\/?p=10668"},"modified":"2021-08-21T05:34:53","modified_gmt":"2021-08-21T05:34:53","slug":"covid-19-breakthrough-infection-common-due-to-delta-report-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/i3tk.org\/demo2\/world-news\/resources\/covid-19-breakthrough-infection-common-due-to-delta-report-says\/","title":{"rendered":"Covid-19: Breakthrough infection common due to Delta, report says"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>NEW DELHI: Breakthrough infections of SARS-CoV2 after vaccination against Covid-19 are common across the globe during\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/topic\/Delta\">Delta<\/a>\u00a0outbreaks and genome sequencing of such cases in India currently also shows high proportion of Delta variant, the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Consortium on Genomics (<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/topic\/INSACOG\">INSACOG<\/a>) says in its latest report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This assumes significance amid concerns about rising breakthrough infections in the country with many wondering whether there are new variants emerging and are existing vaccines going to be effective against them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The INSACOG report underlines that vaccination continues to be very effective in reducing severe disease and death, whereas the continuing outbreaks across India are related to Delta and reduced vaccine effectiveness in blocking transmission, among other factors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cContinuing outbreaks across India are attributable to Delta, a susceptible population, reduced vaccine effectiveness in blocking transmission, and opportunities for transmission. Vaccination continues to be very effective in reducing severe disease and death.
