After that, he moved into the field of extracellular vesicle biology and in Mahidol University, Thailand, his work was to search for CCA biomarkers in exosomes for pre-clinical diagnosis and to elucidate the role of exosomal cargo in cholangiocarcinoma pathogenesis. At the Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (CSIR-IICB), his work involved the identification of exosomal signature cargos for metal-induced toxicity and carcinogenicity in humans. In early 2016, Dr. Dutta joined the University of California Los Angeles, where the main focus of his work was to analyze the brain-derived blood exosomes in different neurodegenerative diseases. He also worked in generating signature spectra of single exosomes from different sources using surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) and developed a highly sensitive phospho-α-Synuclein (pS129) assay using a small spot U-plex electrochemiluminescence (ECELISA) platform. Dr. Dutta’s research is dedicated to understanding disease pathologies and develop new therapeutic and diagnostic tools for different neurodegenerative diseases.
